Esco Medical successfully held a two-day workshop on the Miri Time-Lapse Techniques last June 9-10 at the Kepler University Linz, Austria. It was attended by six (6) senior embryologists from Austria, Germany, and Hungary who all experienced an actual lab hands-on training with the Miri TL.

The first day of the event was structured on the theoretical aspects of the dynamics of embryo grading, followed by an interactive group discussion, which helped address questions regarding the use of the time-lapse system and an avenue for participants to share their best practices and organizational issues in the lab.

Irene Cuevas Sáiz, Chief Embryologist and Laboratory Director of the Hospital General Universitario de Valencia, Spain gave a lecture on “PRODUCTS AND POSSIBILITIES WITH ESCO TIME – LAPSE – PRACTICAL LEARNINGS”. The topic helped enlighten the group on how time-lapse can help enhance the embryo selection process as compared to static morphology.

Thomas Ebner from Kepler University Linz, Austria discussed “GUIDELINES ON THE NOMENCLATURE AND ANNOTATION OF DYNAMIC HUMAN EMBRYO MONITORING.“ He also gave a very comprehensive general overview of time-lapse techniques, available literature and a comparison of all available devices in the market.

The second day of the event was focused on the hands-on workshop with the Miri TL at the Linz University lab. Thomas Ebner and his coworkers demonstrated the process in the proper setting up of the Miri TL, correct CultureCoin preparation, and techniques on using the Time-Lapse Viewer Software. Tips and Tricks were also shared among the embryologists.

The workshop event was an overall success regarding the learnings and the sharing of techniques on how to adapt to this new time-lapse technology.
